The lycra is double lined for durability but the inner lycra is slightly thinner making it more breathable and lightweight. (If you’ve sweltered through a hot Aussie summer you know why that matters!) 

The side pull strings allow you to control the level of ruching, pull it tight for extra gather or leave it loose and relaxed. If you suffer from bloat, having flexibility here is bloody wonderful. The side strings also draw the eye away from the middle and create (or emphasise) curves at your sides.
